Arts Organizations Serving the Griffin, Georgia Area
Organized in 1942, the Griffin Music Club has been a part of the Griffin, Spalding County area for 75 years. Affiliated with the National Federation of Music Clubs (NFMC), the Griffin club seeks to foster and promote music at all levels. Junior Music Festival, an annual event sponsored by the NFMC, is a chance for music teachers who are members of the Griffin Music Club, to encourage their students to participate in the Festival by playing two selections before a judge who is a professional musician. Students receive encouraging feedback with suggestions for ways to improve their musical skills. Each spring, scholarships are awarded to high school students to attend a summer music camp at a college or university. A scholarship is also awarded to a high school senior who wishes to pursue the study of music at the college level. The Griffin Music Club is a new member of the Griffin Area Arts Alliance.
